“Russia in Bed” is a sociological study designed to tell about sex in our country with the help of facts, not stereotypes. More than 50 thousand people took part in it.

“Thousands of Russians honestly answered questions about their sexual fantasies, the regularity of sex, and others. And the study proposes to study this data openly and without vulgarity, ”the study’s website says.

So, on the basis of the collected data, a map of the sexual preferences of the regions was compiled. For example, in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the most popular preference turned out to be blowjobs, cunnilingus is popular in Yakutia and the Murmansk region, in the Republic of Tuva they prefer underwear, in the Kamchatka region massage excites, in the Kostroma region bondage, in Kalmykia they like strangulation, and in Primorsky edge use toys.

The Gender Comparison section shows data that demonstrates similarities and differences in the sexual preferences of men and women. Thus, men like blowjob more – 68 percent versus 41 percent for women, the situation is almost equal with cunnilingus – 47 percent of women and 44 percent of men prefer it. 56 percent of women and 42 percent of men confessed their love for hard sex. In the long prelude, women also lead, it was chosen by 60 percent of the respondents (versus 31 for men).

As for masturbation, the most popular answer among Russians is once every few days. But 29 percent of men don’t mind doing it every day, compared to 7 percent of women.

Among the attractive body parts in women, the back, shoulders and arms are in the lead, and in men – the buttocks, hips and legs.

Orientation. The majority of men surveyed – 81 percent, are heterosexual (and 55 percent of women). Among bisexuals, 34 percent are women and only 9 men. 1% of men and 2% of women are asexual.

Among the popular methods of protection, condoms are in the lead, they are preferred by 51 percent of Russians, followed by coitus interruptus – 27 percent, hormones – 11 percent.

The most popular age for the onset of sexual activity in Russia is 16-17 years old, 35 percent of respondents answered this way. A little later – at the age of 18-19, 28 percent of the respondents began their sexual life, another 17 percent said that they had their first sexual experience at 14-15 years old.

“The quality of sexual life depends on many factors. According to the survey, the national average is 6.3 out of 10. This figure is the same for both men and women. But what influences this assessment? Half of the respondents or their partners have sex toys. The presence of a toy increases the average rating of sex life. Important: This shows a correlation, not a causal relationship,” the study says.

The frequency of sex significantly affects the subjective assessment of sexual life. Most of all – 29 percent – who have sex every few days. At the same time, the regularity of sex directly depends on the presence of a partner.

It concludes that “sex, like our country, is multifaceted and interesting. It is important and necessary to talk about it openly in order to develop a healthy attitude towards this topic in Russia. Sexuality education helps young people accept themselves and their desires, reduces the risk of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies, and teaches them to enjoy safer sex.”
